Amp change - Should I?

I'm thinking about replacing my live rig VHT 2/90/2 and slightly stepping down to a Mesa 50/50. Reasons are:

1. I never use the VHT for it high power use. I run it at 60/60 every bar.
2. I like what 6L6's sound like in my combo. I'd like a similar sound in my live rig.
3. I'm a gear head and it's time for a change.

I know the Mesa has a good reputation. It's 50 per side will be enough in bars but I have a concern - looking at the specs, the Mesa wattage is rated at 8 ohms. I run 16 ohms cabs. By throwing more resistance at the Mesa, how much will this effect my output?

Any Mesa 50/50 guys here? Give me your opinion on performance and tone.

i think you'll dig it. but i wouldn't sell the vht. you still might like the 60 watts through the 90w output transformer of the vht.

i personally always prefered 1/2 power of a 100w amp over a 50w amp.
but the mesa's pwr amps do sound great. try one out and see.
