last dumb effects question for 06...

as i've posted i bought the line6 spiderIII 1x12 combo. the tape echo and sweep echo are two effects i've never used before. what do they do? are they just differant types of delays? any help would be appreciated.

Amp... Pioneer
Effects... Boss ME-20

Yes, they are different delays.
