I love my ada. i use it with a Digitech DHP-55 Harmonizer, Digitech TSR24s, alesis midiverb II, Peavey 60/60 tube power amp, and Carvin 4x12. I can use it for anything.

I've got a stock MP-1 that I made the centerpiece for a rack I put together. Also have a Quadraverb, BBE and a Hush unit. I'm using a Crate Powerblock until I can afford a proper tube power amp. Simply put - this setup rips! For around $1000.00 currently invested, my rig is comperable (or even better in many cases) than rigs that guys I know have spent 3 and 4 times as much on. I LOVE the MP-1. Classic, smokin' preamp.

I received my Voodoo Amps modified ADA MP-1. Just awesome! I'm getting rid of my Marshall heads. No need to lug them around anymore!

I have a power amp with a fan, so I'll need a noise limiter of some kind to put into this setup.

Wow - pretty close to mine. I don't have the BBE though!

MP1s are awesome. They sound great, they're easy to use - what more do you want?!

I wouldn't doubt for a second that many great songs were recorded in the 80's using these preamps. I've never had one but a buddy did and he seemed to dig it.

I've always been a 1/2 stack kind of guy myself.

Have had my MP1 since 1989. Indeed a great preamp. Got it in a rack with an MP2 and a Mesa 20/20. Great preamps indeed.

Thought about getting a MOD done on it. Other than Voodoo who else does the mods?

There's that guy Harriston (sp) in Europe on the ADA website, but I don't know if he is doing mods anymore due to a recent post I read. You can get the parts and have an electronic tech do it, or yourself if you feel competant. I just had Trace do it. He turned the MP-1 around in less than 1 day.

I believe that Hairston is in the US (could be wrong, but I'm almost sure he's here) and definitely remember that he got very busy with his job and had to indefinitely stop doing MP-1 mods. But I remember his work being praised as impeccable and many saying that it rivaled and/or surpassed the Voodoo mods.

Having said that, I don't know how much gain one would need from a preamp. Put a pickup on a chainsaw? As I said, mine is stock and I can get Pantera/Slayer type gain out of it.

EDIT - Of course, there are the battery and noise mods that have nothing to do with the gain. Both of those mods are said to be must haves with the MP-1.

Correct, Hairston is in the US but he's currently MIA. MarshallJMP is the mod guru in Europe and Jur runs/owns the AdaDepot website. Hairston's work is top notch, I have a couple of his modded MP1's. I have had some work done by Marshall, also top notch. Jur is a great guy, hell they all are over at the Depot.

Own 4 of them and love 'em all. The Mod4MkII is my favorite, very hot-rodded-JCM800 sounding. The 3TM is amazing if you can find one.

Big +1, just got a Mod4MkII with all the goodies including upgraded tranny and a Monstercab from him.

I used to own one and thought it sucked... got rid of it and years later tried out another one and liked it much more. Last month I picked another on up and am keeping it... sometimes your tastes change

Right now I am running an ADA MP1 into a BBE into a VHT 2150. I've played a LOT of amps, and I can't find another with that kind of balls!!

The 2150 is an amazing power amp. Hope you have a strong back to lift that sucker!
