Planet Waves cable question

I have a 12 ft Planet Waves guitar cable.
It has a short mid length in the cord.
They have a life time guarantee.
Do I have to return it to the place I bought it from or
will any place that sells them exchange it for
a new one?
It's about 3 years old.

Update:
I went to http://www.planetwaves.com
then support.
I filled out a form and mailed my cable out last week.
I just got an E-mail saying there sending out a new
12 ft Planet Waves guitar cable.
