    My HOLY GRAIL amp has arrived

    Mesa Boogie Mark III Coliseum 300 Blue Stripe

    I just got this baby.

    Super rare, only 78 made. John Sykes used 2 of those on Whitesnake '87 and Blue Murder's debut album. The Rolling Stones, The Who and Santana has used them on huge stadium gigs (100000+ crowd)

    I have played with MKIII series 300 once before and I knew right away that it's MY tone. These are one of the loudest amps ever made. They have the most in your face tone EVER!!!

    Crystal clear and warm clean, great overdrive for blues, amazing crunch, the smoothest and thickest lead sound wich is kinda nasal (in a good way) and one of the best reverbs ever made.

    It has six 6L6 power-amp tubes and five 12AX7 pre-amp tubes.
    Reverb controll is on the front panel.
    It has an extra half power switch on the front panel.
    No Class A/Simul-Class switch.
    Blue Stripe/Dot (my favourite is Blue Stripe, the Red Stripe is my second favourite).

    I'm getting a Down-Step 220V-to-110V converter, original footswitches and a new cabinet pretty soon.

    I will be testing it durning the weekend. I'll let you guys know how it sounds.

    I also found a couple of loose items inside the amp, one of them is a condensator and then there's also four small ceramic things. I'm not sure if they are just some extra/spare parts or they came off the board, the board seemed to be fine but I'm no expert on these things.

          Very cool! Glad you found your dream amp! So um.. What's the difference between this one and the stock Mark III's? Actually I'm not even quite sure exactly what is the difference between the Mark II and Mark III series..
          Apparently my Quad preamp has one channel based on the Mark IIC and one based on the Mark III.

            Mark III is ballsier and more "rock" than IIC+, II is warmer. Many perfer II over III, I like the III version better. But III's differ from each other. There's a good info http://homepage.mac.com/mesaboogie/dot.html

            Now series 300 is a very different different Mark III, it has GIANT balls, more power, more gain, more headroom, more everything. It's INSANE.
            One of the things I really like about is that it's very sensitive and dynamical, it reacts very well to your finger tone and dynamics, no modeler amp can produce that "feel".
            It's also very ruthless, you can hear your every mistake LOUDLY.
            But I really like the sensitivity, you can make your guitar sound like a violin or saxaphone.
            And of course it cuts thru in live mix like nobody's biz, it eats other amps, perfect for one guitar band.

                Väga lahe , tahaks juba kuulda kuidas ta kõlab.

                Aga need jupid, mulle tundub ,et need on ikka lahti tulnud kusagilt, samas ei saa ma aru kuidas need said lahti tulla.

                          the cool thing about it is that it's designed like Fender Bassman, you can use it as a bass amp...and it's amazingly good bass amp, like vintage Ampeg SVT


                          btw. those 4 little things are just center parts of tubes' bottoms so no biggy...but I have to wait mesa to inform me about the capacitor

                            That's cool as hell E, but if it has that much low-end, won't that drown out the bass player?

                              only if you use a lot of bass, I usually have the bass knob at 2 and then use the EQ to shape the sound so it would blend with the whole band mix.
