Sorry for the last vauge question about the right amp. Ill try to re-word it.

When I asked for help with pedals for a metal sound on my Peavey Classic 50 several of you pointed out its not really a metal amp. So if that isnt normally a used for metal, what amp is? I am looking for something in the $600 range. I would like it to be a 212 style amp. I have gone to the stores and played around with the amps of coarse. But it is hard for me to get a comfortable and get a real fealing from the amp in a short time frame. I was just looking for condsider a good amp for a Metalica/Slayer sound.

Thanks a lot. You all are a great help.

You can use basically any amp as a metal amp if you set it to clean and use a distortion pedal into it.
