  • marshall or crate?

damit, i'm getting off my ass and gettin a guitar amp. even if it means blasting out those inconsiderate elephants stamping past my room. it doesn't have to be incredibly loud, just subtle. no fancy effects, but preferably something that will handle the line out of my Boss GT-8. budget up to £300.

a combo amp, nicely placed against the thin wall which everyone walks past. a friend of mine has a nice marshall amp (2x12 or 2x10) but he wants too near to the price he paid for it. i figure buying a new one would be better.

The Roland Cube do sound very good..I finally played one!!

A little more than what I would want to pay for a amp that size new..

I still have a blast playing with my kids' Line 6 Spider II..It hasn't failed the many hours of abuse me and my kid put it thru over two years..you can get the 75w 2-12 celestion version for under 200 bucks now..since they came out with the newer ones with the worthless artist presets..nothing you can't dial up even better on your own..IMO!!

I dunno, I can nail everything from Classic VH to Nevermore with it..you can get my kids version for just over a 100 bucks now..I think it's the best bang for the buck for a bedroom/recording amp ..IMO

I was playing a Line 6 1-12 Combo, and some shredder dude was playing a new Crate 2-12 combo at GC a few weeks back and we got to fuggin' around back and forth..he got served, but he was pretty good!

This is something you heed to investigate for yourself and let your ears be the judge on this one..tone and personal need is subjective to the player..go to your nearest GC or whatever and put the two side by side and have at it..check out that Cube and Line 6 too..

            Good luck.

These demo rooms aren't very good in the shops available to me, but I'll give it another shot.
