Me I play heavy as hell metal, plus some old school. So my older (under 500) Dual Rec's get me there in both places. I just do not have a clean channel with them
How bout we show it...Top vid is my set up live...I was using the Insane patch with Line 6 cab sim...Also the "Screamer" as a clean boost.

In the middle of the song we do a riff trade off where you can hear it singled out...I start it off. It may not be in sync

I have the same rig sitting 3 feet from me..although I traded in my two Marshall 2210s towards my Marshall Rack in '96.. 9200 w/5881s /JMP-1 /JFX-1..it sounds like a better version of my two 2210 that I ran in stereo..the best amp I discovered for metal at that time and still love today!

Until I discovered my Uberschall in 2002..which is sitting next two my Marshall double stack..with four 1960b (straight) cabs..sound "beefier" to me

My favorite amps for metal are..

My Marshall rig for "classic" metal Savatage, Death, VH , Pantera, Slayer, Testament, Megadeth, and ect...even Eidolon.

and My Uberschall..for "modern" metal..Nevermore, Arch Enemy, Iced Earth, Darkane, Amon Amarth and my own material.

My Uberschall is the "heaviest" tone I've ever heard..I couldn't ask for more.

              1984 Marshall JCM800 "2204" 50 Watt.
I own 2 now, and bought my 1st one in 1985.
I just love how you can go from a nice clean thunderous crunch, to a reasonablly clean tone thru meer control thru the guitar volume.
Nothing else for me compares to these amps!

I had a red half stack years ago!!..it's fucking LOUD..that's for sure. One of the loudest amps I ever owned. The volume knob on mine was very jumpy tho..I used to freak out my wife at 3AM everytime I tried to creep up on a practice level..My hands would shake everytime I tried to play with it at night!!

It would go from off to a tsnumi of mind numbing feedback!!

That fucker made my teeth hurt..whew..and it was a 50 watter too.

                My wife hated that amp!

This is the best in my opinion.

But the others are pretty good too.

I really like my Engl savage 120, but I will see how it compares to my Mako Dorado once I get it.

If I played slower metal that was about just sick sustain, immense amounts of distortion, my Dual Rectifier would be the best ever, but its too sloppy for it to be the best ever for me, even after all the shit I've done to tighten it up. Plus I really, truly hate the EQ on it.

So I'd say the Mark IV with a boost or an Engl Fireball.

clips could give you a "idea" what an amp may do, NOT will do while your playing it..but you already know that!

Just keep in mind what Andy Sneap can make a Krank sound like..

To hear what a amp really sounds like ..you must be playing it, with your face right in front of the thing, up close and personal..with your hands and your geetar and preferably over a drummer!
