  • Anyone else modded their own pedals?

I just got finished modding my SD-1. I started the project a while back and messed up a resistor i shouldnt have, and finally got the part i needed today. i found some diagrams and instructions on how to turn the SD-1 into a TS-808 (since its basically the same pedal with a different style of clipping and a few other things) and i wanted it to have the sound of an 808, with a little more bass and the Boss-style gain. I couldn't be happier, and it was pretty easy and cheap to do (couple of bucks in parts, and some time being careful with the soldering iron!)

theres a clip at my soundclick here. playing is kinda sloppy, but the sound is the important part. i mixed the drums a bit low so the guitars would come through more...done through my Pod XT Live, JCM800 model, T75 cab, same EQ settings for both tracks, but the left is boosted with the SD-1, right with the Pod's Screamer model. modding the pedal really made it sound mean and kept the bass from being lost. now what to mod next? LOL

I mod my pedals now. I modded a ds 1 and it sounds way better. and when I get of my lazy butt and order parts im modng my OS 2 .

I bought a book with tons of mods in it so I can mod around 70 pedals now if needed.

If the OS 2 doesnt sound as good as the ds 1 im going to trade it for a blues driver and do the brett mason mod to it.

i know there is a guy with a whole book of mods out there...im not into having lots of pedals, but if i did i would probably get it! right now i only have my SD-1 and a Flanger. dunno what happened to my CE-5, i loved that pedal. i need to get another one sometime.

oh and i have a Dano Fish 'n Chips EQ that i never use! i just get sick of setting pedals up and whatnot, and even if i use them i eventually just leave them at home because i dont like carrying extraneous stuff. but i think ill be using the SD-1 with the Pod a bit more now...i like the way it works with it.

The ds 1 I modded had caps and resistors that were changed. it went from a sucky pedal to a distortion machine. the book I have has 5 different mods that can be done to that pedal. Id like to mod pedals for other people one day.

I guess I need to get off my lazy butt and post a clip of the ds 1. I have parts coming for the OS2 pedal mod so maybe I'll just mod that one and then post clips of both.

Hey before you make comments like that ya better get your facts in order dude. I sent him the info against my better judgement because I would like to earn a few bucks and there is nothin wrong with that dude. I paid over $50 for it. I thinks it only fair that I have the opportunity to earn it back. I dont think I have that mod youre after in my book or id share it.

Umm yup I do have it Ill PM ya dude.

Also why would people be willing to offer the mod info free and then have the person who got it free turn around and mod a pedal for a friend for a fee.
