  • POD XT PRO ? $700 is this what a Vetta II

has in it? What im asking, is instead of maybe getting a VettaII Combo
amp, or head, would this floor unit POD XT Pro give me everything the
Vetta Combo has? Just curious, Im using the Boss GT-8 now, and i
like it, ive just heard so many great comments about the Vetta 's.

Yes and no. The xtpro has more IO options. The vetta offers the same amp models and effects, but has two amps at one and the double tracker.

There may be more differences, but I can't think of any right now.

The Vetta can emulate two amps at the same time and has three stomp box slots...only one for the XT. For some reason the Vetta sounds a lot better than the XT, even though the software is nearly identical.

Some people just go with a Podxtl and a fullrange amp and speaker(s) for a Vetta-Like rig on the cheap.

It's what I use currently. Though I always enjoy playing the the nice tube amps as well. The Podxtl, Pro and Vetta are quite versatile.

In the end nothing quite matches the sound of a tube amp and a guitar voiced speaker. In alot of cases I'm willing to sacrifice the tone, that most people will never hear, for the versatility.

I think it's a pretty powerfull rig if you take the time to explore all the options.

Then again, it's nice to just plug into a tube amp, turn a few knobs and
        have killer tone.

+1 . that's what I do with my 5150. I found myself tweaking and tweaking for hours on my other modelling pedals with their 100 amp models and 1000 effects. Too much waste of valuable playing time.

Funny. That's pretty much what I do with my Vetta.

I've learned that if you keep it simple (one amp model ;a stomp overdrive if needed) and keep the gain between 9 o'clock and noon for most models, the Vetta does exactly what it claims to. I do miss that 1% extra feel and responsiveness from a tube amp, but the sound and ease of use are there.

^ and the reliability that comes with a SS. Every time I turn on my 5150, I am looking at the LED's wishing they will light up. lol. Because once the amp just died on me. One hour earlier it was playing loud and clear, and then dead silence. SS will not have this problem... well 99.999% of the times.

There is no replacement or substitution for a Vetta. I have had everything that Line 6 has ever made. The only amp that came even remotely close to a Vetta is the Line 6 Duotone.
BTW.. I haven't spent thousands of hours tweaking my Vetta either. For the last 6-8 months it has been a plug in and play amp. Once you have your patches set up you are good to go.

can you post some more info about the vetta please? How many wattages are they available in? What are the dimensions? The last time I laid my hands on a vetta was in GC and I recall it being huge. I think it was a 2x12. Are there any 1x12's ? thanks

Ok...am i going to hell with this thought? I now run a BOSS GT-8
through a BBE Sonic Max, and then into the front of a Marshall DSL 2000
Could i go from my Charvel, into the PodXT Pro, and then into the
Boss GT-8, and then on INTO MY MARSHALL for a bit o' tube flavor??
Seems i would get the best of both worlds? Or is the POD a level
down from the Boss GT-8, and i should go another direction?
Ive been listening to the samples...and some are amazing!! I know
that i cant get a few of these sounds with my BOSS. If i buy that
$700 Floor unit POD, does that mean i'll just have to sell my Boss GT?
I have more money than Brains! LOL

Why would you want a GT-8 AND a Pod? They're the same deal, basically.

I'm also a great fan of Line 6 products and i must say that VEtta is and incrdibly versatile amp. I prefer it over any tube anmp I've tried (Powerball, 5150, Mesa etc. etc.)
I use a POD xt Pro and I can get some great tunes form it, but vetta beats it It has more options, i'd like to buy one in the future

there is a head version and a combo version. I have the combo. the new ones are 300 watts for the head and 150 watts for the combo and the first gen ones are 200/100. my combo is the older, but upgraded, one, and the 100 watts are more than enough.

                          no 1x12.

the combo is heavy, and it's the same size as most 2x12's. but there are other combos just as big and heavy. I love mine. the only thing I really want now to make it a perfect rig is a closed back 2x12 extension cab for the heavy low end chunk, the combo open back doesn't give you that chunky compression you want with the high gain patches, and routing those patches to the closed back cab is the solution for that.

                          it is a fantastic amp.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives

Same thing? Well then i suck at programing, cause i sure heard allot
of cool presets, ala the "Stones", Robin Trowers "Bridge of Sighs"...
                            I agree...the GT-8 lets you nail AC/DC and Dokken/Wasp etc...but
some of those Mp-3's are amazing on the website of Line 6 imo!
Now i take it, the Vetta would be killer with a Kustom 4/12 cab extension, with Celestion 65's?

The Vetta sounds great with any quality cabinet with quality speakers. It has cabinet modeling so you have alot of flexibility.
Don't trust any online clips of an amp. Check one out in person. Hopefully you can demo one that is dialed in correctly.
