Yeah, but how much of the clean do you loose. In my Voodoo Modded MP-1, I have all the clean and clean Marshall stuff still there. From what I have read, it sounds like with the 3.666 mod in the MP-1 you loose some clean tones? I've never heard a MP-1 with the 3.666 mod so I can't comment on the change of tones.
With the Extreme 3, I think it is a well spent $100!

Well... the tube clean becomes pretty useless unless you crank the master and keep the gain around 1-2 on both channels. But the solid state clean (which is infinitely superior on the MP-1 IMHO) is still as liquid clean as it is beforehand, to my ears anyway.
The tube clean channel crunches up VERY nicely with the 3.666 too, very good for blues-rock tones.

But yeah, for $100 that's alot cheaper then buying an MP-1 and then buying the parts to mod it.

Post some clips of the pedel! If I get a chance tomorrow, I'll record some stuff with the MP-1.

I just got mine and have been using it in the studio. Maybe Toejam or JGCable can comment on your question.

+1, the SS clean is great. Only problem with these units is that there is a pretty loud pop when you switch between SS and tube voicings. I run my Mod4MkII with a Triaxis and switch between them, Triaxis for cleans and leads, Mod4 for everything else.
