  • The best multi effects for the price BOSS, ZOOM, DIGITECH?

I´m looking for a good multi effects unit for around $300 bucks on ebay or in used price. What do you recomend?

I´ve been thinking on getting a GT-6 or 8 but really besides having the two amps channels, in the actual sound of the effects (including wah) any notable differences?

How do you compared the ZOOM G9.2TT with a BOSS GT-6/8 and to other brands?

I used to have a Digitech RP-12 and I like the brand but I don´t like the looks of the newer models, but really how are they in sound and in compared to others.

Last, I don´t rule out to have a rack gear, so if I should be looking for a good deal in Ebay, what would it be?

BTW, I really don´t like Line 6 or anything that is too digital, I play from 70´s and 80´s rock and heavy metal, passing thru Dream Theater and Rush progressive style to Stevie Ray Vaughan blues...

I use a DigiTech GNX-1 some of the time.
Killer sound, just needs a good amp to push it through.
You can pick them up for under $150.

My gear is a Kramer Sagemaster Custom running thru a Marshall DSL-401... I don´t get to play that much live (not my choise, just not interested in playing stuf I don´t like) but it gets me thru on small gigs.

I´ve been playing like this for some years now and it´s time to get a decent multi effects.

If you dont liek Line 6 you arent gonna like Digitech. I find Digitech to live up to there name. There stuff tends to be too digital for me. Id try a Boss GT-8.

If there isn´t any I dont mind getting an used GT-6 rather than a new GT-8.

Not that interested in multiple features rather than how good and natural sounding the effects and modeling are. Any real diferences in the sound of the patches and effects on the GT6 and the GT8 ?

I THINK (I'll try em tomorrow and let you know as a dealer has used ones of each here) they are the same, just the GT6 has more to it then the GT8. not 100% on that though.

I personally love the older Digitech 2101. You can bag them for under 300.00 and they have a meaty distortion and it has the most flexible effect chain that I know of. The only problem is that it can be a little difficult to program your own effect chains. But, it is a very nice do all processor. Just stick it infront of a poweramp and go. This is not a modeler.

I can tell you the quality of the sound is much higher on my Boss GT-8
over my 12 year old Digitech RP-21 unit. And from what ive heard the
Extra $125 is way worth it, to go with the GT-8 over the GT-6.
A ton of improvements made with the '8'

Since your budget is $300, I say go rack... Rocktron Xpression/TC Electronic G-Major/Lexicon MPX-1 (this last one is the best sounding but, isn't simple to work with and can't be used live usless you switch patches early--long gap between presets--MPX-1 IS THE BEST SOUNDING effects unit under $1K).

Otherwise, I think the effects on the POD XT Live are great, so that's a great choice. Boss GT-8 is also comparable but, I like the Line 6 take on effects.

I know your budget is $300 but, I'll add this anyway. I own:
                    Pod Pro rackmount
                    Lexicon MP550
                    Behringer Vamp rackmount
                    Digitech GNX2
                    Digitech GNX3000

Out of those, I prefer the Digitech's. I liked the GNX2 so much that I bought the GNX3000. Like Robotechnology said, the Lexicon is kind of a pain in the ass to work, sounds good but, a pain in the ass nonetheless. I was a little dissapointed with the Pod... didn't really like the distortion. As for the Vamp pro, I found it to be a great recording tool for what it costs, I just don't don't use it much anymore. I have since started micing my cab for recording.

Well they sold the GT8 so there goes that Boss stuff is nice, and is built to last forever. But sinc ethe GT6 is a bit pricey for ya, I would ook into Behringer stuff.

get the gt6. it has more sounds and features than most people would want.
plus the price of this unit has gone done alot. it is a great buy on the used market.
