Well, today I was looking at the MusiciansFriend catalog and they had the Rocktron Prophesy II listed. IIRC, Dave Mustaine used to use this a while ago. http://www.davemustainerig.com/
Its got 4 channels and tons of effects including the 'pluck-detection' system which can change channels based on your plucking speed. But its almost $900.
I was thinking it would be cool if they had a cheaper version of the prophesy and notice this Utopia G100 unit also has the same 4 channels and effects minus the pluck detection. And its reasonably priced at $189. comes with an inbuilt expression pedal too. including the HUSH noise reduction system. Anyone tried this cool lil unit?

I did, it feels like a plastic toy, and sounds like a Vamp2

Having owned the prophesy, that wasn't much of a difference, I'd say steer clear of this!

In terms of something cheap, I don't know what to tell ya, there isn't much out there that's good on the cheap, if you buy this thing do you get a return policy? if so, buy it, and try it for a few days then send it back.

Other than that everything in this price range does little for me

I just listened to the sample sounds at rocktron's site...they sound really good. I think I may get one and see how it goes.

Quote from Rocktron's site regarding the chassis:

"Not simply a bunch of plastic, the G100 has a metal chassis and a rugged professional grade expression control pedal made from metal!"

How much of it was plastic?
