Zoom 505

I know its an old model, but i love it. Anyways the wiring is going bad and it just doesnt want to work anymore. Does anyone know if zoom has made good updated versions i should look into, or instead of retiring the old beast should i just try to get it fixed?

I haven't tried the 505II but they are so cheap at $69 that they're worth a try. You can buy an original 505 for $25-$30 on Ebay so it's really not worth paying someone to work on it. I'm sure ZOOM would charge you more than that to fix it and I doubt anyone even works on them precisely because they are so cheap to buy.

I have found that the solder joints on the input jack are not too solid. I have had to re-heat them to resolder those joints so the unit would work. It used to cut off if I jiggled the input jack while it was on. Maybe this might be causing your problem.
