  • Well...im now back to being a Solid State

Whore! Man... 4 cable 5 cable who cares? In Mono, the GT-8 is
just being held back! I decided to try out my old Peavey CS-200
stereo rack mount amp, and i didnt really think the tone was that
great going into a single V30 Celestion on both sides. (L and R)
Then i noticed that the Peavey had dual speaker outputs, so i also
include the 4x12 Kustom cab into the mix, and that made the tone
amazing! Mono into these killer delay Boss effects was just not cutting
it. In true stereo its stunning! And driving 6 ...12" Celestions is
amazing too. Its like everything came alive in my rig. I now know that
i either want another tube head, or for sure a Mesa 20+20 or 2:90
rack mount STEREO tube amp! I got used to Mono, and i thought it
was the bomb... Stereo just crushes it. Im surprised the 110 watts
per side Peavey has that much volume, as i can scream indoors anyway.
Just thought i would speak the praises of stereo with the GT-8 anyway.. Heck, maybe the POD xt pro will sound better too?
Everyone knows how great it is playing through headphones...
well i have that out in the open now!

I am running my GT-8 into 2 Mackie SRM-450 PA Speakers.

I sold my Marshall JCM900 and will soon be selling my Mesa Boogie DC-3. I don't play my tube amps anymore. Nuff said. You are right about stereo...makes all the difference in the world.

I have my favorite patches and I just play now and love my tone. For so long the endless search for awesome tone slowed me down and I was never as satisfied for as long of period of time as I have been with the current rig.

The other cool thing about using the Mackies is their versatility. You can use them with keyboards, you can run a band through them, and you can make some easy coin DJ'ing or doing A/V side jobs if you wanted. The GT-8 and the Mackies are a great match as are many active PA speakers.

So there's some solid state love for ya!

I agree. Stereo is the way to go. Tube is even better than SS but I will admit that SS sounds great in stereo with the GT-8

Stereo is a pain in the ass for live work - unless your audience is dead center, they are only going to hear half of that cool tone. I run two microphones to my cab live, but I use an SM57 and a 609 silver together, and mix the two.

Oh, and I agree on the SS at home in stereo though. I plugged my GT8 direct into my KRK R8s and it sounds awesome!

Got my eye on a Mesa 2:90 rack stereo tube amp, and a VHT 50 watt
Stereo! Certainly these 2 (either one, not both!) Im not that rich! ( would be a great foundation for a rack setup?
Overkill for a bedroom, but i like my ears bleeding!
