boss dd-6 delay

i bought a boss dd-6 digital delay about three months ago. at first it worked great, but the second gig i played with it, i had to pull it out of the chain at sound check brcause i was getting no signal to my amp. i have changed batteries, and cables but it still cuts my signal completly out sometimes. any suggestions?
