The DSLs are poorly made amps wtih bad service records aimed at players who want the tone and the name, but don't have the budget. 2 of my friends own music stores. They sent back more faulty DSLs than any other amp in the history of their shops.

The Fender Prosonic is a killer amp with an 80's glam Marshall sound, with a choice of tube or solid state rectification and classic, Fender clean tone. I got one for a friend who gigs regulary. We A/B/C'd it with 2 JMPs and it was the best sounding choice for his needs.

They have sent back more DSL's because they probably sell a ton more of them and most of those are sold to kids who don't know how to care for a tube amp.

I think its a matter of percentage. If you buy 5000 Peavey amps and 50 are sent back because of a problem, then if 50,000 DSLs are bought and 500 are sent back, well, it looks bad because 500 sticks out a lot more, but the fact is, its still the same percentage.

Dunno, my 5150 took an ejection out of a cars rear window in a pretty good accident, onto a dirt hill and still worked. A roadie dropped one of my 4100 Marshalls 12-18" into soft wet football field and it broke in several ways...

I think that says something.

Yeah, there a probably a lot unique individual happenings. I have both DSL and Peavey. With the DSL, I haven't had any problems, though I lent it out for gig and the other guitarist blew one of my tubes. Thats the extent of problems I've had so far with the DSL. The peavey crapped out on me one day in my living room. After an hour of trying to figure out what it was, frustration took over and I kick the side of it. It worked.:ROTF: :ROTF:

I gigged for three years with a TSL100. Only issue I ever had was with the footswitch.
I'm using a DSL100 now. Very pleased so far.
Instant hotrodded JCM800, and it takes pedals well too.

Sorry to say, a DSL is pretty far from a hotrodded 800. I love many of the sounds I have gotten from 800s. Can't say that for the DSLs at all.

I am not sure what's the deal. I absolutely get the JCM800 sound on the amber channel. In fact so close, that after having them side-by-side for 6 years I ended up selling the JCM800 2204 head.

Absolutely. The amber channel is very close to both my 2203 RI and our other guitarist's 1982 2203 sound.

Could you describe, what is the differnce you are finding? Admittedly, mine is a TSL. And I had had the 2204 for 15+ years. The amber channel gain between 1-5 (especially around 4...4.5) is identical to the 2204 sound and gain structure. Above 5 - yes, it is different: more compressed and more saturation, slightly suppressed presence (but slightly, you actuallly get more variation between different 2204s from different years). But the 2204 was never able to go to that territory without a pedal.

So what's your take on it?
