    >I< am a JCM 2000 "hater"..I owned SO many cool Marshalls. My Marshall rig still sounds killer going on 12 years no matter how it's made or whatever. I can play the fuck out of it, and never had a better "Marshall" tone in my life..that's all that matters.

I seen good players sound good with a JCM 2000..but these are world class dudes such as Reb Beach and Doug Aldrich. They would play good through just about anything..my guess. I'm a GOOD player with the morals, ethics and tone rooted in 80's shred/metal. So are they, but I'm not them!!!

They can shred better than me..but I think I still have better tone IMO!!!

The other guitar player in my band has a JVM and now it's definitely back to getting repaired. Since he had the amp he only had problems with it. The noise level is way to high (impossible to record this amp as you always have the noise in the recorded tracks, the noise is in the power section so even a noise gate doesn't help any when nobody is playing) and it makes crackling noises every now and then.
He already mentioned that if this amp develops even one problem after coming back he will get it replaced by a Engl Powerball.
I have to say i am dissapointed in this amp. Even more as from the sound perspective and features it's a very nice amp with a great versatility for a tube amp.

Wow Flo..I like the gain and tigthness of the JVM. I KNOW noise was a major issue while at Guitar Center, at a moderate level..but I didn't think it would be that bad..wow.

It already went back for probs..wow again.

Like I said before, the JVM immediately reminded me what I dialed back in the day with my Marshall 2203s with an Eq, and Metal Zone ..defineitely not far removed at all.

I'll stick to my tried, true and faithful '96 Marshall rack..thank you.

Yes i also like the gain and tightness of the JVM. It's a really cool sounding amp and the reason my other guitar player bought one in the first place.

I am not sure if the noise of this particular amp is way worse or if the whole series is this bad. I think it's the first because this amp isn't really usable for recording.
After all those problems the other guitar player doesn't think much about the amp, so maybe it's the best for him to switch the amp. I wouldn't want to play an amp which i know has construction problems and can fail anytime.

I liked the sound of the JVM, but the noise was out of control ..BIG TIME!

That was just Guitar Center volume levels. I had to walk approx 10 feet away and turn my back to the amp to shut it up ..but it still sqealed like Warren Beatty in Deliverance!!

Dreamland..Dude, I will try that Vintage Modern half stack. The guys know what I like at GC and pointed me to the JVM. I will try it..I'll see if it has enough "Usable" gain on tap to execute some "Widow" worthy riffage.

It was cool to see your band mentioned in GW..in the "Power Metal" article.

I bought my TSL in 99 and gigged with it until 2005. Sounded great, never let me down and the footswitch has been fine all this time too. It was replaced totally by my XTL, which may be replaced by the X3L. I get more sounds and less lugging this way. I haven't turned the TSL on in ages, but with a little one in the house I barely have time/energy to practice as it is.

                    • The new 2203X re-issue has the 6 caps again and should be loud Too bad they cost over $2000 They also have flying leads unlike the JVM and DSL/TSL`s.
