I see. Sorry about the misunderstanding. But while we're on this subject... what exactly is the difference between the 2.0 and the 2.3? I bought a 2.0 about 2 1/2 years ago, but was told at the time that all of the current ones had the 2.3 software. I know that the 2.0 added 16 more amp models over the 1.0, but I've never heard the difference between the 2.0 and 2.3.

Supposedly some "improvements" to some of the cab sims, and the tuner was supposed to be better - more stable. I've had both (more than once) and I could never really tell the difference with the exception of the tuner, which was better. I usually have the A.I.R. off, so the sims are shut off most the time (especially now that I have the Floor POD Plus, which actually leaves the cab models off if you save them that way). I may have shut off the very improvement they made.

The Pod 2.3 firmware upgrade includes recoded cabinet models as well as a few amp models. In addition, we added some test routines and addressed a minor bug or two.

You should notice a little more detail, clarity, and presence in your tone because of these enhancements.

I recall a 'discussion' about this on here. The amp models tend to sound less warm on the 2.3.

Thanks for the info. And speaking of the Floor POD Plus, I find it a little bizarre how they make you change the cab sims; holding Save while inserting the power plug. That struck me as a bit odd.

You change the cab sims by pushing down on the "amp model" button (which turns the light orange), and then slecting your cab-type/speaker-type model you want - 1x12, 2x10, 2x12, 4x12, etc... The Flextone III is the same.

I think you're thinking of the "cab tuning" mode, which basically tell the POD what kind of set-up you are running in to. I think the default is "C", but I have to change mine to "POD feeding poweramp into a closed back cabinet" - whatever that is.

Thank you! Yes, that's where I was confused. I was looking at cab tuning instead of cab model selection.

I would use a solid state keyboard amp with a horn. They modeller are meant to be heard full range to get the best tone, rather than a guitar speaker.

Right now I'm running the Floor POD Plus across the Marshall. When the Flextone comes in, I plan to run both amps from it. Not quite "stereo," per se, but it should be a pretty full sound. It might be worth it to pick up another cheap Flextone for this purpose since the Marshall has so much (ahem) "personality."

Yeah, and they sound good across decent PC speakers, too. But no matter what I try, the clean across the Marshall sounds "clunky."
