dude, just try switching the cab sim to the line 6 4x12 and i bet it will sound exactly like the pod 2.0 modern hi gain.

Anyway. I made a patch with my vetta combo that has been upgraded to a vetta II. I built it side by side my slo. It is pretty damn close. I am using the criminal (5150 amp) and the slo to get it. I don't think it will ever sound exactly like the slo but it is close enough for my tastes. The thing i wish i could get is the tube sag... I used to use the slo all the time and then got into the flextone. I really had to force myself not to play the soldano. I felt a slight delay playing the modeler amp and needed to get used to it. I have now so I can go back and forth between the two with no problems. Honestly, I think I might sell the SLO now. I am a diehard owner of the Soldano and have had a few of the products including 2 SLO's at the same time. The patch I made to my ears sounds really close but it lacks some of the definition and clarity. I think I can get used to that so.... Might be time to sell the only amp I swore I would never sell.

          1. Have you tried the Modern Hi-Gain on the Vetta II? If so, is it exact? Somewhat? Not even close? Since you're an enthusiast of the early Line 6 stuff, I'll trust your opinion on this.

          2. If you were in my shoes, what would you do? Flextone II HD or Vetta? Keep in mind my infatuation with the Soldano models.
          1. Yes, but briefly. It was very similar, maybe just a tad more complex (not that that is good or bad). Had I spent more time with it, who knows. The big turn-off for me was the price. Considering what I'd actually use for (Modern High Gain & a little bit of delay), it was overkill, both in cost and features. Kinda like buying a Leatherman when all you need is a plastic fork.

          2. I think you know what I'd do from my statement above. If you are happy with what you hear, and don't want to spend an extra $600 - $1000 for something *VERY SIMILAR* (for what you'll use it for anyway), stick with what your gut tells you. More expensive + more features doesn't necessarily = BETTER! (Flame away...)

I'm very happy with the Flextone & POD. I've got no needs beyond that. It does exactly what I want it to in a very economical package. The setup I have now (Floor Pod Plus >> poweramp >> 4x12 cab) gives me the sound I want, and more flexibility than I could hope for. Again, in the end, YOU need to be happy with your set-up, not me. I know if I had an HD II and a pair of cabs (and room for it all), that's the way I'd go. The Vetta is VERY cool, but I don't like screwing around all day, especially when I don't have to with the Flextone series -- I get EVERYTHING I want with that amp. Another thing to consider - the cost of the new Floorboard. That will cost you almost as much as a Flextone all on it's own.

I should be getting my Rocktron Replitone MP preamp today... I may hate Line 6 tomorrow...

              Thanks a ton, Chris!

Now let me ask you guys a question.....

Vetta I (original Vetta) combo, updated to 2.5 software and also patched out to a 4x12 with Celestions.

Would that be a nice stereo setup?

Might as well just ask this in here..

How are the discontinued DuoVerb models, head or combo?

That is what I use and love it! I run one sim to the combo and the other out to my Marshall 4X12 with V30s. My favorite so far has the 5150 from the combo and the Uberschall from the Marshall.

NOISY!! I did NOT like the Soldano model on there. That and after I bought a couple effects, it cost more than the Flextone III did, so I returned it.

Agreed. I never owned one but I was totally NOT impressed with it in the store. I viewed it in about the same way I view the Flextone III.

Thanks, guys. I'll avoid that one then.

Well, I did it. I bought the Vetta at Guitar Center after work today.

                            And I blame you assholes!

Seriously, thanks to everyone for your guidance and expertise. It's nice to have a group of folks who know about these things. I also picked up a USB-to-MIDI adapter (thanks, Pete!) for $40.00 or so.

Later tonight, I'll upgrade to 2.5 and patch out to the 4x12 for stereo and start setting it up.
