  • ~ VOX AD-30 Valvetronix combo ~

Just got a VOX AD-30 VT today and loving the thing.Anyone have one or hear one? Sounds BIG with the San Dimas, I wanted another modeling amp after selling my Line 6 Spider 2 to get a Fender Pro Jr,then I got my San Dimas and wanted the modern hi-gian tone and sure have it now.Its got a 12AX7 pre amp tube in it too
For those who want to see a vid clip (28 megs. . need hi-speed) on Gearwire to see what im talking about click here: http://www.gearwire.com/vox-ad30-vt.html
Ive been playing my Charvel thru the PJ for 2 months now with clean tones,so now im happy again and have the sound/tone thats on par with the Charvel.
This is my 1st VOX amp and really liking the thing

I had a AD30VT for 2 years. It is a great amp for what it is and the price, the best in it's class IMO. If I had to do it again, I would get the 50 though. IMO the 50 is the standout of the chrome grill line. The 50 is also the only one in the line up that has a Celestion speaker IIRC.

Im sure the AD50VT must smoke,I dont need any louder than the 30,plus with my trade (PJ) and just over $40.00 with tax I got the AD30. The AD50 is $359.00 ish. I believe.
Im happy as hell. I had a Line 6 Spider 2 before the PJ and liked that.So when they didnt have the new Spider 3, I was like wait some more or take the AD30 home. I got my PJ there so I got a great deal. They had some pods etc but couldnt see using it with the PJ (too coney) sounding.
Just glad its over and have tone that I love again. The Charvel deserves it.

quicksilver: Your welcome! I found that AFTER I bought my amp today.I was familar with Line 6 but never knew about the VOX modelling amps.
I know VOX has been around forever and known for their AC-30. Just happy about my new found tone and wanted to share with you guys. Nice to hear how good the San Dimas really sounds and sustains.
I havent tried my 56 CS Relic into it yet on the Tweed or Blackface settings. Just the hi gain which is modellled after the Boogie Recto 100W,which is great cause ive always had Boogies over the years.

Spacelord. . .TY, for $239.00 its got the Mojo and well worth it. Whats cool is you can vary the power amp from 1W-30W,so you dont have to crank it to get the tube saturation.

I have had this amp a year or so and I really dig it a lot...It sounds really cool to my ears!

I think it is an amazing amount of bang for the buck. The only downside is that you have to buy the 50 or higher to get an external cab output

Right now I have a Digitech RP-250 which I run through a Crate G60. The RP-250 has modeling and I can get a wide variety of sound out of it.. but thinking this Vox is a bit smoother sounding.

Wow, that little bugger rocks man I want one of those or the 50`s now. Don`t really nead the 50, but the external speaker jack is a real plus Jack.

I had one I thought it was a nice amp for the money. The thing that killed for me was not enough control of the onboard effects or a effects loop.

This is a great place to find patches for VT amps. I have an AD60VT and love it.

The AD60VT and AD120VT blue series have what you need. They are more flexible than the chrome series and have an effects loop. In addition, they have speaker out jacks and compatibility with the VC12 floorboard. Discontinued recently, but you can still find them around. The blues also have Celestions. The AD60VT rocks.

OK, here is a question. Why would they disontinue something that was better and offered more flexability for something that has less? That doesn`t make sense in my book Jack.

Chrome series are cheaper and seem to be selling really well. It's also rumored that a replacement for the blue series is in the works. My guess is also that manufacturing costs for the blue series was quite a bit higher than the chrome series. There's probably a business reason behind the decision that we don't know about. Good products are discontinued all the time in every industry, why is music gear any different?
