  • BBE and a JSX

I love the Sonic stomp pedal with my 5150 , but I've not heard of anyone using it with their JSX.
anyone here try this yet? and if yes well??? does the BBE match well with a JSX?
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Dunno, I've heard the JSX is a bit more smooth and processed sounding than the 5150. Might make it moreso....

    Then again....

JSX sounds fine on it's own, not so sure what the BBE would do there. Might be ok for recording or low levels, but BBEs really screw with your tone at gig volumes, or at least they have with the amps I used.

I agree Pete, even with the 5150 if I can actaully crank it up , I turn it off
and use an MXR 10 band EQ instead. But for low volume playing I think it "wakes up" the amp quite a bit. I'm wondering if it would do the same with the JSX.

I tried the BBE with my JSX and I didn't like it at all. But, to be fair, I only played with the both for about 15 minutes and when I couldn't get anything I liked, I just gave up and pulled the BBE from my rig.

I used the BBE with my JSX and it worked great. I ran it in the effects loop. It gives you another avalible tone. It also adds a bit of punch.

More punch? Well, maybe I should give it a try again. I've been using my wireless and I loose a lot of my punch in doing so. If I recall, I had both knobs set at the 12 oclock position. Where did you have yours set?

                thanks!

                  Yo Nick!

I really like the JSX..even more so than the 5150..yes, you read that right..smoother and more
usuable"gain without the need for a stomp, and better lead tone IMO!!!

It wouldn't hurt to go to your nearest Peavey dealer and dial it in without it..then put that fucker in the loop..

It'll let ya know if it likes it or not pretty instantly..just like the 5150 does..

whenever I try the BBE in the loop of a amp..it either sounds like ass or pretty good..I assume it will sound good being a Peavey, but ya never know..

yes, it sounds very nice without it..I know that much..it takes me seconds to dial a great tone with it!

Well, there ya go..if it wouldn't work with the JSX..it would indeed sound like shit. It seems this is not the case.

As said above, dial in your amp without it. Then add it in for flavor. My settings where 1 oclock and 11 oclock. Basically what you do is start it at 12 both and then remove or add as needed. The Contour adds bottom end but if you add to much , it muds up on the jsx. But whats cool about it is that you can tighten up and add more bottom end with it without it mudding it up like when you run the bass to high on the jsx, one thing I didn't like about that head. Process adds brightness. Again be careful setting this as it can make your ears bleed.
The pedal slighty boosts the signal depending on where your settings are. I believe it goes to +7dbu is I remember correctly. that would be both knobs maxed. It sounds terrible there unless you re eq your amp for that setting.

It takes time like anything else to achieve the right level. My settings maybe to hot or not enough for you. Start there and modify.

Good luck , I love mine
