I had one a while back...a vertical 2x12 version. It was kickass for rock, but probably doesn't have enough gain for metal. Oh, and it will reveal any sloppiness in your playing. I kinda wish I still had mine....

Great for rock. You will need a pedal for metal. If you want a clean tone you have to turn it up REALLY loud.

It would benefit greatly if it had an effects loop.

Very reactive to different types of cabinets so you have to make the right choice.

I also agree.. its a very revealing amp.

One word of caution.. it doesn't sound ANYTHING like an SLO100.

So what combo would you recommend for more gain?

I heard the Peavey JSX combo is really good.

          Carvin MTS3200
          Carvin Legacy
          Mesa F series
          Mesa Rectoverb combo
          Peavey 5150

The 5150 combo would be my first choice for a high gain tube combo.

Also the Yamaha t50c and T100c amps are relly high gain for little bucks. Mixed reviews on them though. I liked the 50w head I had but it did have a choke mod done. The reverb in them is 100% crap though. They have a Soldano SLO type Gain but do lack the clarity of the real deal.
