Marshall JVM410 Head Reviews?

Hello all. Does anyone have any input on these heads sound, value and versatility wise. My name is Jeff and I am new to the JCF and wonderd if
there was any of you who have this amp and could tell me how they are. Also if they are priced fair (1700 or so for the head)

I used the search function and it did not come up with anything so I posted as a result

Thanks Man! Yeah how versatile is it? Ya know can you get different tones out of it other than just twaeking the bass mid and high etc?
Also how are the clean tones?

Also I have heard random news about noise (hiss and unwanted distortion) was wondering how valid they were

How about the construction and reliability. I thought I had read that they might have had soem QA issues with the JVM

I think it's VERY versatile - 4 channels w/3 modes each, MIDI-programmable, 2 master volumes. I like (not love) the clean channel - just as clean as the one on the Marshall 30th Anny I replaced.

Regarding the noise, hissing, feedback, etc. - I think it's a crap shoot. I think some came from the factory with some problems - shame on Marshall. I got a "good" one - none of the above problems, and VERY quiet considering what a high-gain monster it is. It actually got even MORE quiet once I retubed and biased it. If you want to get one, make sure it's from a store (GC, for example) where you can return it should you have the aforementioned problems in the 1st 30-45 days.

The amp's construction is nothing to rave about - typical mass production product. I don't gig (and it's a GREAT bedroom amp - plenty 'o tone at low volume), so I'm not worried about it. One construction disappoint I *do* have, however, is that the front knobs are not anchored to the chassis - just attached to the PCB behind the front plate. Obvious cost-cutting.

Otherwise, I love mine - it's been flawless, and I can control the JVM and my MIDI rack FX through one foot controller ie. change amp channels and fx settings together, instantly.

Just one (Marshall lover) guy's opinion...

I'm using a Marshall 1936 2x12 with V30's. I'm thinking about buying some Greenbacks and trying those in the cab. I've played thru a Greenback cab only once, years ago, and remember loving it. I used to have a 1960AV, but I don't gig anymore, and my muscles (and back) aren't that strong anymore

Least expensive, good sounding, and versatile amp on the market currently. Can't lose with that one. It's the only Marshall I would consider owning long term. Welcome to the JCF!
