I just sold a Landmine I owned for a couple weeks. It's okay if you like a little fuzz mixed into your distortion. The best results I got out of it for a smooth distortion sound was to keep the bass almost cranked and the mids and treble practically at zero.

I still have my old BOSS HM-2 'Heavy Metal' pedal from the early 80s. You could try picking one of those up if you see one around for that 80s type sound. Black pedal with orange lettering.

i can't see your amp from that link. but originally 80's thrash was a marshall tube amp on the distortion channel, boosted with the boss SD-1 (yellow overdrive pedal). later on it became a marshall on the clean channel with the metal zone (mt-2) or the DS-1 (orange distortion pedal).
