Yes, I've owned many heads..Soldanos, MANY Marshalls, Mesa MrkIII, (5) 5150s, Ampeg Lee Jacksons, Lots of Randalls, The first series Dual Recto, Old Fenders, Legend, played ALL the Dr Zs, VHTs, Kranks, Carvin Legacy, Laneys, H & K, Wizard, Line 6s..and mucho rack gear thru the years.
I NEVER kept a head this long, and it's not going anywhere soon..
The only amp that impressed me in years is the JSX..I like it!!!
Amps I would l LOVE to try..is.
5150III
Framus Cobra
Deizel
I was told I wouldn't like Engl by a friend that toured with them."Bill, Smoke a Bowl and Crank Van Halen I, Life is better when I do that"
Donnie Swanstrom 01/25/06..miss ya!
"Well, your friend would have Bell's Palsy, which is a facial paralysis, not "Balls Pelsy" like we're joking about here." Toejam's attempt at sensitivity.

MTS
A buddy of mine bought the separate preamp and power amp for his recording studio, and they are amazing if you need the ultimate flexibility while staying in the realm of tubes. If you don't want to go rackmount, just get the MTS head. I tried all of his modules and was really impressed. I never cared for Randall amps in the past, but if I didn't already have everything I need, I'd probably buy either the head or rack version immediately.

Tough to beat a JSX for a great sounding amp with a fair bit of versatility. They're going pretty cheap used too. I love mine and play out with it weekly doing everything from blues, soul, old school gospel, rock, etc. I really dig the way I can dial a nice warm fat sound in with the crunch channel and then play with my volume knob on the guitar and vary my attack and have it sound completely different.

Randall MTS vote here. Buy the modules used and have Pete do the upgrades/mods. You will be in tone heaven and have the flexibilty to change your amp in seconds by swapping in a different module.RR24M -SLATQH- 2 SLSMG's- DKMGT- 3DXMGT's

An Egnater TOL100 would work great in a Top 40 band . 4 Channels with voicing swithes for each , reverb, midi , and parallel/series effects loop .
Pair it with a G-Major and you're set . As they don't make them anymore you would have to go the ebay route .Oh stick this in your fuse box ..... Bon Scott
