Do you think Ed's amp came off of the Mexico assembly line? I really doubt it. And in the new Guitar World, Ed goes on about how he brought in some transformers he took out of 'something else', and made Fender put these in his prototype, and then it was right. Hmmm....where might those transformers be from? I'm not knocking this EVHIII,,,,,and I'm sure it probably sounds great,,,,,,just commenting on how amps like this are "production versions" of the real thing, even though they lie about it. I don't know why he just doesn;t go all out and release a "hand made" version of what he actually uses,,same components, etc.....even though it would cost like and be a "boutique" amp,,,,it really is what he should do, instead of chasing the "let's sell millions and make me rich" bandwagon.

Sure but who is buying a 1/2 stack for $6500.00 then? Whatever they
did...this amp screams! I mean its "Mean Streets" x' 10! But im having
a hard time controlling the frickin Volume in this beast! My GT-8 is barely
keeping the volume controlled! This thing is outta control!

It's my understanding that all Fender higher end amps are made in the Mexico facility? I'll bet any money that he's got 50 of these things laying around and 49 of them are made across the Rio Grande. Anyway, Let's face, plant in US or plant in Mexico...it's just a technicality. It's the same peeps making it either way.

I remember EVH left Kramer after he found out they made axez in Japan. I guess hes over the foreign made stuff. I wouldnt buy one. For $2000 there are better amps. Id pay a little more and get a Saldano or some other boutique amp. EVH mexican amp just sounds like a money grab yet again. $2600 1 hum charvels and a $25000 frankie replica. Looks like the only thing our hero can make anymore is over priced gear.

Wherever its made...it totally kicks Ass! I agree....that the EVH Franky
is not worth more than $1500.00 but these amps are fantastic! Easily
worth $2800 for the 1/2 stack. Oh...did i say $2800.00?

Well, because if they use cheap labour, then the amp should cost less. It's like when Celestion moved production to China. How come we're not getting $25 Celestions now?

*** a bit off subject, but why are 2 identical Dodge Trucks sitting
side by side on a dealers lot...both priced at say $28,500.00 but one
is "Made in Mexico"...and the other Detroit...but BOTH are priced the same? One cost Crysler/Dodge $7K less to produce!! They should
give the consumer a chance to buy a Dodge Truck that is $21,500.00
as an way to "Pass it on to the consumer"...but who is going to do that?

In mexico you dont have to pay Workmans comp...FICA... etc...insurance.. so it WAY cheaper for a company to not
have those restrictions!

Anybody read the new GW yet? EVH cover "story." It's basically a 12-page ad for the new 5150 amp masquerading as an interview. Doesn't mention the MIM detail, though. Doesn't mention where the Celestion G12's are made, either.

Besides my doubts that this thing does anything that other amps can't also do — many better — the claims about the "truly clean" channel kinda irk me. NEWS FLASH! A "truly clean" channel does NOT have a Gain control!! Moron.

Yeah, I was reading that section over and over trying to figure out what he's getting at too. My little Crate G60 has some pretty fast channel changing , too. Time to move that bad boy to the big stage, I guess And the three amps he keeps referring to? Hmmm....Fender clean channel, Marshall crunch channel, and Soldano "over the top channel" as he calls it. And WHERE are those transformers from that he refers to as the "main ingredient?"....that he ripped out from somewhere? In other words, "borrowed" from an amp he really likes, but hides or denies cuz it won't gain him any cash and he can't sell it as his. Not bashing the EVHIII amp,,,,I'm sure it sounds pretty killer ....again,,,,just laughing at this guy and what he says and does. So ,,,,the 5150 was the greatest, then the 5150II, now this one is the best,,,,and in a couple of years.....the EVH IV will be the best ever,,,really. Where is this going? I sure hope if he hits the stage again, he can still play like the old days,,,,cuz what I got to see in 2004 was pathetic. I mean, really , really bad.

bummer about the problem but hey, it happens.

I haven't played one of these yet but I'm REALLY impressed with the clips and videos of it. It nails the VH tone but how is it for other types of tone? It seems like it would be able to get a fairly wide range of hot rodded Marshall tone right off the bat. Sounds like a winner to me especially have a good clean channel to go with it Does it sound better paired with the EVH cabs? Those speakers are new 20w and are branded EVH...I can see I'll end up with a EVH III but I need another 4x12 cab like I need a hole in my head

Saw a 5150 III over the weekend. Could not plug it in as I was in a hurry, but I was a bit dissapointed.
It does look cheap. Hard to describe... but the head frame looked thin and wimpy. The knobs felt very loose (rotation wise) and it just looked flimsy.

There was a 6505 nearby and that sucker looked like an M1 tank next to the 5150.
I am going back this week to plug the sucker and see what its got, but if looks tell a story.....

The V3 is a great amp. I just sold mine cause I like the JVM better.
