detuned cabs vs ported cabs vs sealed air tight cabs

I have been reading the posts on forums about detuned cabs and ported cabs. They really intrigue me and I would like to know your opinions on them regarding playing them in a studio vs playing them in a live setting. How well do each of these cabs handle high gain situations with detuned or 7 string guitars? Which cabs have a better response for chimey clean tones? Is one cab more versitile than the other? Do any of these cabs "honk" or "fart out" under certain conditions?

The cabs that are in question are a vintone detuned cabs and a port city wave cabs. I have tryed basson sound's air tight cab. It seemed to do well for high gain and high bass applifications, but it also sounded a bit sterile to my ears.

Port City cabs are the best ive heard so far.
