  • EVH 5150 III update... theres trouble in FMIC !

Well, ok its minor trouble...but i heard today that over a dozen EVH 1/2
stacks have had failures on the 3rd Red Channel within a day of use.
Fixed easily (it is a 12AX tube problem) but this isnt good, if their
big "send off" is tainted with early trips to the local tech guys for repair?
So the problem i had..(fixed within 5 days) seems to be happening in
about 1/3rd of them this month. Not good.. maybe its those secret
Transformers? :ROTF: As an aside...It still ROCKS! Amazing flexability
    and brown sound. Love it!

If a tech had to fix it, might have been more than just the tube.

Dude, there are "guitar players/owners" that do not know how to buy/install strings for their axes. As for intonation.... Lord!! that is a major tech dilema.

So changing a tube could certainly be a trip to the tech for many.

On the subject of tubes and techs, I just bought a Weber Bias Rite a few months ago to save me the trouble of going to the tech to change tubes. Now, I have a new problem. I'm buying tubes and constantly changing them. Why? Because the bias rite makes the job so easy. Not a saving of money at all, dammit!!

Not sure if you know it but Mexicans make a good portion of the crap we buy these days.

Yup! The only made in mexico I buy are tomatoes, Onions and few other vegetables. but seriously, my friend's VW Jetta was assembled in mexico. On the first week of purchase, his tranny broke. M Benz moved their ML320 production into Mexico, check out how many problems those SUV's have.

When some company moves production of their $2000 amp to mexico, that is company is too greedy for money IMO. Fender is such a reputed name and Eddie is what a billionaire? Why the greed for a better profit by moving the production to mexico? 5150's were made in USA. I had an amp which was built in 1999 and was rock solid!

I hear ya, hence the phrase "might have been" in my post.

Maybe the OP can chime in with specifics. But if its just tubes, I'd be curious to know why its only showing up in Channel 3.
