Keyboard Amp as a Bass Amp?

(Note I wasn't sure where to put this so don't shoot me )

Recently Ive become interested in picking up Bass as a little thing to do on the side. I have a keyboard amp and was wondering if I could use it as a bass amp? Id rather not buy an amp as I could buy a half decent bass to use. Can I use it for awhile anyway? I paid $50 for it w/ synth, and its a Crate, so if it blows I won't be missing it And finally, if it won't work, why? thanks!

They take line level input don't they? Maybe go through some kind of preamp first get the level right. I play my guitar through a keyboard amp but I use a podXT and a mixer in between. 15" keyboard amp through a bass pod would probably sound really good.
