Yes you can buy a midi looper and but your SD-1 into a loop. Now you can switch your SD-1 in and out or your signal chain through a midi pedal.
Your guitar gets plugged in into the midi looper. With Midi equipment you can also switch amplifiers, switch channels and other things.

I've heard great things about ENGL Invader 100 and 150

Also ENGL SE is an incredible amp. All ENGL porducts in general own. I use a Powerball and I'm fully satisfied about the tone (still thinking to get and Invader)

I think the Cobra and Uberschall have some similarities in the gain channel going on. That's probably why I don't like either. I like the Dragon and Ecstasy though.

Marshall JVM is also a great choice as someone has mentioned. Versatile and good sounding and since it's a UK company... it's inexpensive for you.

I haven't tried the Bogner, can't find a stockist or the money. The JSX is very good, but not quite there without a stomp. The Invader 150 is the closest I've heard so far, plus it has the midi functions...don't know what this means but it sounds like it makes it better, so I should get some.

I had a Vetta Mk1, just doesn't have the presence of a tube amp.

My Framus isn't quite there without a stomp either, but with one it's my perfect tone. I just want to press one pedal to go from clean to dirty. Anyone else brave enough to confess that their high gain, high end amp makes their fingers hurt unless there's a stomp running?
*** since your looking for a hibrid.. maybe check out a Randall Lynch Box? Modular..and it sure looks great imo!

Not sure what you mean by hybrid... the randall MTS and lynch box amps are 100% tube.

the Randall modular stuff is probably the most versitile tube amps on the planet. i think its brilliant. its like a rack but in a head where you can switch out preamps for fairly cheep till you find the ones that you like best.

and with pete here to do mods for you... can't go wrong.

How about a carvin V3? Made in USA, three channels, footswitch has boost utility, switchable from 100 to 50 watts, I don't own one, but for under $1000 brand new, I would love to. For now, I'm more than happy with my GT-8. But a JCF'er always brings up the carvin when great amps are talked about.
