  • B-52 Solid State Amp

has anyone tried out the solid state b-52 amps. i know they are ugly as hell, but how do they sound? do they have high gain etc? i like 80's/90's metal.

One of the guys in the band that shares our practice space used to have one. I don't remember if it simply sucked, or if it actually died on him, but he only kept it for a few months. A Line 6 Spider II was an upgrade for him, which says something I think.

The B-52 tube head I tried sounded really good, but the solid state model didn't strike me as being worth the money. A Peavey or Randall would be better for high gain.

The AT series is decent. I haven't played a Stealth yet, but there are people out there touring with them FWIW. Great bang for the buck, but I haven't been impressed with the SS amps. The AT cabs are nice too.

the only B-52 I would ever buy is the At-100 series.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
