  • Pod X3 Live anyone???

Has anyone gotten one yet? I just sold my XT Live w/model packs and am awaiting the new X3 Live? It looks like a Vetta minus power amp, which is cool. Anyone heard the reviews on this one yet?

I've seen some spot reviews on TGP and Huge Racks. The concensus is that it is a fine upgrade from the XT in terms of features but tonally it is not bringing anything new to the table. So if the XT rocks your world the X3 will be a welcome improvement.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.

Well I checked out the X3, X3 live and spider valve at the local GC. Where do I begin -

Spider Valve - they only had the 2x12, so I gave that a twirl. The presets sounded good, but the FX on the majority of the patches were so wet that you couldn't really hear the tone. It is loud and it sounds pretty good, but I guess I was a little disappointed. I may need to go back with my own guitar and try at it again in the near future. Maybe they'll have a 1x12 when I do.

X3 live - this unit is so light as compared to my XT live - so much so that it feels really cheap, especially the foot pedal. The tones were pretty cool, but the display is really tiny. The name of the patch is so small that it is kinda hard to see. It has the variax in, xlr in and loop. Not too bad, but I think I prefer the XT live in terms of ruggedness.

X3 - I think I'll probably get this one. It is pod small and will work with my long board. I listened to it thru headphones, which tonewise would be the same as the X3L, and the amps and FX are fine. The display is still small, but I will use the longboard display to see the patch name anyway. It's 1C cheaper than the live and is as sturdy as the older pods.

Overall, I think I still like my Vetta better than the new X3's and my H&K Switchblade better than the Vetta. But, you gotta keep up with technology.

There is currently no computer editing software for the new X3 line-up.They are saying it will be available in January. I really like the line6 edit program I use with my XTL.

Word over at HC is that this can be pretty cumbersome to get good sounds - if you're a plug & play person, it may not be for you. I found that to be true with the POD XT, so I went backto the 2.0. EASE OF USE!!
