I think line6 has caught up with GT-8 on this as well. If what I'm talking about is right, then there are several effect units in the market that can do what you're talking about.
Yeah, the concept isn't unique. The lexicon front end is real analog for wah, eq, preamp/distortion and you can blend true bypass signal into your processed output. 80's technology probably isn't as user friendly as the line6 and boss units, but it sounds good if you tweak each stage of the signal flow.

Ah ok didn't know this. Cool to see this feature being used more often. Although i have to say i am still fully satisfied with my G-Major.

I will soon be trying the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx myself. I have heard nothing but rave reviews about it. Its not cheap though, but I wanted something that could do harmonies in the same league as an Eventide. The G-Major through the loop of my RM100 didn't sound as transparent as I was lead to believe by others. It didn't sound horrible but still, I liked the amp's distortion better without the G-Major.

Here's a recent picture of my stage gear.

The Amp is a London city Bulldog all tube head with a Marshall 4x12 cab and just left at the bottom is my Boss ME30 multi effects unit. The guitars are my self built SG/Tele "Fido", My heavily customised squier telecaster "Striper" and my self built Les Paul "Amber"

Mesa/Boogie Mark III. I'll never sell it for anything

Right now I'm using it with a Genz-Benz G-Flex 2x12, but I'm selling that this Sunday and I've got a Mesa Mark series Halfback 2x12 coming next week

Which stripe do you have? I am thinking about getting a Mark III to go with my Mark IV

                    I use two Riveras; a standard TBR1 from 1987 and a mid-nineties Knucklehead 55.

I've got the Green stripe. I haven't played any of the other stripes, so I can't say from experience, but I've heard many people say that the Green has the best cleans. If already have a Mark IV, though, you probably don't need to worry about it, they all sound great
