Exactly John. My Marshall is much more forgiving than the Bogner. With the Bogner I have to hit everything right on the money, and some days that's really hard, or almost impossible! My Marshall rig isn't like that at all. I think you would be very happy with the full bodied tone of a 2203, JMP, or plexi. 900s are OK, if you slam the front. They are a tad thin sounding. Which is why John and I always used EQs in the loop with them..

I would keep your Vetta and get another grab n' go Marshall. Things go full circle along with the value of what's in demand. Heads were cheap not long ago, while everyone were building racks.

Either way you really can't go wrong. You'll will NEVER be stuck with a Marshall. The classics increase in value ..as you know.

The reason why I say keep the Vetta. Nobody on the planet prolly didn't milk a Vetta like you have. That's your Vetta with all your tones and lots of tweakage, you know that amp. Nobody is going to get the tone your with a Vetta. If any player plugs into that amp, it won't sound like you at all. Because YOUR tone is a huge part of whatever amp you use.

No matter what C-John plays it still sounds like him, same with me. If we switched gear, we would dial it in to the sound in our heads anywoo.

Take Uli, do you think we would hear a drastic difference if he played a Super Lead, JMP, 800, 900, DSL2000, JVM ect..while blind folded. We may hear the difference but it will sound like Uli..and we may get a big surpise when we take off the blind folds.

    Make sense?

I've been finding that playing through modeling amps just seems to lack something they sound good but the radio analogy si quite accurate, they still miss something....

You might want to try out the jvm 410 very nice head I tried one and thought it did the marshall older stuff good as well as a decent marshall high gain...

I've gotta get myself a valve amp, i dont know why i just tend to play differently through them...

John, it sounds to me like you're hearing the difference between tube and solid state. It just has that extra bite to it that a modeling amp can't replicate.

I have been saying this for years. It does sound like a studio recording of a guitarist. Not like a live guitar tone to me. Canned Tone if you will.

Why not go rack? Get a nice power amp like a VHT 2-50-2 or something. Then you can swap through preamps forever to keep gas at bay. You will have clean and dirty tones without having to move multiple heads, or employ an amp switcher. Get a tri-axis or the Randall. Maybe a JMP-1. There are lots of choices.

Haha yeah, a amp like Bogner can be your best friend and your worst enemy. Personally i think those amps can help your playing very much if they don't cover up all the mistakes you make. But of course if you have a "bad playing day" those amps can make your life a living hell

Flo, yer right. It made me more of a precise player in the 5+ years having it. I play the Bogner the majority of the time. I want a switcher to combine the Marshall and Bogner..that should sound huge!

I'd like to have a foot balance control for both amps..so I could blend as much of either amp as I want. I don't know if they make that.

Bill try out the Voodoo labs amp selector swithch, it has level adjustments for each. I have the one that will let me play 4 amps at once or any combo of the 4...also has ground lifts for each input so. When I run all 4 I use 2203-VHT 50 CL-Bogner XTC-Splawn QR...yeah all at once...its is a kick ass blend and a HUGE sound.

No doubt with the Marshall rig and Bogner Uber you'll get a cool blend goin on

Well said. I have been through the whole rack thing. I had all kinds of crazy kick ass high end rack systems. They were all good.
I just miss the traditional amp head, 4 x 12 cab and a few pedals thing.
I am also not at all digging the "studio recording of a guitarist" and the "canned tone" thing. Not at all.

One of my favorite metal songs. The thing is.. I know what I am missing using a Vetta and I know what I will miss by not using a Vetta. I can handle it.
