  • effects noob here: please bear with me!!

i've been playing for about a year, but just through a crappy line 6 combo amp by itself.
i just ordered a marshall, and want to use a few effects pedals.
After some research, i've decided to go with an electro-harmonix metal muff and an ibanez tube screamer (to sort of brighten the lead tones of the muff).
here's the thing: how exactly do these pedals plug into the amp? do i just link them up with guitar cable then plug that into the input slot? does it matter what order the pedals go into?
i know it sounds like a stupid question, but like i said, this is my 1st experience with these pedals.
    thanks a bunch!

A metal muff and/or a tube screamer will go before your amp. For example: Cord from your guitar plugs into input jack of the pedal, then another cord runs from the output jack on your pedal to your amp input jack. Simple! Other time based effects like chorus, flanger, and delay usually sound best in the amps effect loop. Just run a cord from the effects loop out jack to the pedal and one from the pedal to the effects loop in jack. That's it.
