Didn't see a smilie here; I believe the average wage for assemblers in Mexico is closer to $1 an hour.

I'm kinda biased on the Mexico subject since I'm loosing my job to that place so I'm gonna keep my mouth shut on this one

Oh my bad!! So what, they make $14 a day? with no benefits and im sure they are working 14 hours a day.

Quoted from the Saldano website-- MADE IN USA (SEATTLE)

"Things were made to last and there was certain pride in craftsmanship. That pride in craftsmanship is still alive and well here at Soldano Custom Amplification. And, in a time when more and more manufacturers are sadly succumbing to the lure of quick profits promised by the ’new economy’ and ’planned obsolescence’, I flatly refuse to go there. As I see it, the model for this ’new economy’ is all about image and hype, and all too often product quality is compromised so that more money and effort can be pumped into the marketing machine."

From Bogners site. Not Made in Mexico. Even Ed used Bogner.

" Eddie Van Halen entrusted Reinhold to overhaul and revitalize Eddies #1 Marshall Plexi, Eddie was pleased. BOGNER AMPLIFICATION was born."

Im not 100% sure but the other boutique amps are made in USA arent they? Im sure they are paying ther people $1 an hr either. People like EVH and Fender executives love Nafta. Remember EVH left Kramer because they were using foreign labor. I guess he is over that huh??

Well... gotta chime in with this update... Tube trouble in EVH land!
We have had preamp tube failure...in ALL 3 EVH III's ! Sure fixed
locally in about a week...but that aint good IMO. On a $1900.00 Head.
I paid $1100 for my VHT 2/90/2 and my personal feelings are that
the VHT is twice the EVH amp in build quality. Dont get me wrong..the
EVH sounds awesome, but trouble in the first 4 months does not make
for a warm and fuzzy feeling about when the warranty runs out!!
** But then 2 months later, i lose a KT-88 in my VHT so what the
              hell do i know !!

That's the main problem I have with the 5150III... it has a "boutique" price tag and it is made Mexico. $2K is high for that amp even if it was made in the USA.

I agree. I just got an Egnater Mod 50 for 1950 shipped. Hand made in the US.

Now that is a nice amp! I have the Randall RM100 myself but I have been listening to the Egnater at NAMM for the past few years and it sounds really good! I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I second that motion Considering that a good used Uber can be found at times for $2K, I'd go for that. Oh, wait a minute, I DID go for an Uber already Best distortion sound in an amp IMHO

I've been watching some of the EVH III on ebay and they didn't sell at $1500. Still, I've got a TSL100 that's sitting around that I'd trade for one of these.

I'm gonna test the EVH next saturday! Over here it's around the 1500 euros. I've got a ENGL Powerball, but if the EVH is more brutal, the choice is made

I'm talking about the amp, not where it's made. If it was made in the USA..how much would you think the 5150 III would cost?

I personally think that if it were made in the US the price it's at now could be justified as you have to charge more to use Eddie'$ name. But to me MIM should get half that price, it's kinda like selling import Jacksons at USA prices. But hey, it's worth whatever someone's willing to pay. If you're happy with it it shouldn't matter what someone else thinks.
