I was thinking about these amps but I'm seeing a lot of them pop up on eBay recently. Could it be that people just bought these on a whim and now are getting rid of them? Is these 'something' about these amps that require more knowledge to tweak or do they only work well with a certain cabinet. I listened to a bunch of the youtube stuff and I was impressed with some of the tones this thing generated. I have a JSX (which I like )but this EVH looks --sounds-- a bit better.

You have to have the EVH cabinet to go with the head. Channel 3 is the only channel I've ever used where you don't need a stomp to smooth it out. I've tried everything (Mesa, Framus, Engl, Bogner, Randall, VHT etc); this is the only amp capable of crystal clear cleans to ridiculous gain.

Initially, I used channel 3 all the time...it's too much for me; something I thought I'd never say. Best amp I've ever owned by a long shot.

I think a lot of people buy gear they can't afford and end up unloading it shortly after they purchase it....buy now, pay later! or sell it on ebay!

as far as i know eric peterson used the EVH III for all guitars on the upcoming testament record. given that he was a long time rectifier user, the EVH III should be quite a heavy sounding bitch if he prefers it to the trusty rectos.
needless to say, i'm really looking forward to that one...

Here are some pix from NAMM for you:

and the new EVH Wolfgang, which like all Wolfgangs is sort of ugly body style wise I think. The striped Strat shape is much cooler:

Dose anybodys 5150 iii head box seem kinda flimsy, I just got mine today and when I pick it up by the top handle it creaks and it's lighter than I expected. I am just trying to make sure it was handled right during shipping
