How much did the USA made 5150 ones and twos cost? Nowhere near $2000 or a grand for the cab. Sorry man but this is a wayyyyy over priced amp. My 2 grand could find a better amp and it would keep what few american manufacturing jobs we have left going. Im not saying its a bad amp just saying its over priced for where its made. If it was USA made it would be worth 2 grand or maybe even a tad more.

I couldn't find a better amp for my needs. I paid $2600 for my mine, worth every penny. It was miles ahead of all the other amps that were within my price range; Mesa, Engl, Randall, Bogner and Marshall. The only amps that were (slightly) better were the SLO 100 and the Herbert...way out of my price range.

Sean, it sounds like you found the tone you been lookin' for. You had some VERY nice amps throught the years and no matter what anyone says...you found an amp to bring out the best in you, that's what any amp is all about!! Now kick ass with and have fun.

I was playin' classic VH like nuts with it..but my wife is so tired of hearing me doing that stuff for the last 25 years!!!

The EVH is a wonderful amp that made its way into my stable permanently. The whole USA or MEXICO thing is ridiculous. Who the hell do you think works at the US plant?

Having a plant in Mexico isnt beneficial because of worker wages, thats a wives tale. Having a business in Mexico is beneficial because the government there is easier to work with, and cheaper to keep happy.

Its a great amp, enjoy it!

2 totally different amps so it's hard to compare. Cabs of course are different as well. 5150 I and II's is not the same with the III.

Exactly right, they are completely different. I (with slight regret) got rid of my 6505+. I regret getting rid only because it was fucking ace...the 5150 lll I initially bought because I thought it would be a close compromise to getting a usable clean channel...after using it for my last seven gigs, I now realise that it is twice as brutal as the 5150/5150 ll, so no compromise whatsoever, plus I now have Fender cleans too.

The cab is the best cab I've ever owned. Before I got rid of my Peavey, I ran it through the 5150 lll cab...better match than the Peavey 5150 cab.

I'm planning on getting the 6505 without the plus. I did own a 5150 II (6505 plus) and sold it a while back. Do you recommend the 5150 III cab to pair up with it? I was looking into either the matching 6505 cab or the Marshall 1960 with the GT12 75's.

To be honest, my 6505 sounded great with a Marshall 75 loaded cab (don't forget the BBE though), sounded even better with the matching Peavey cab, and incredible with the 5150 lll cab. I think it's difficult to get a bad tone out of the 6505. The main difference between all 3 cabs is sorted out via the resonance control. The Marshall cab had this set higher than the other two to compensate for the lack of low end.

Bear in mind that the 5150 lll cab is rated at 100w, the 6505 head is 120w. Not sure how important that is if you aren't maxing out the volume; I never ran my 6505 past 4, so it easily handled it.

Thanks Sean, I think I'll try out the 5150 III cab and pair it up with the 6505. I wont forget the BBE. I don't even go past 3 on mine as well..so I think I'll be alright.

*** But there are always near mint clean ones going for $1500.00

How does that work? Its speakers are only capable of handling 20 watts, so I would think it would be rated at 80 watts. Maybe it's because they're rated at 15 ohms? http://professional.celestion.com/gu...tail.asp?ID=33

I got the chance to play the 5150III today through a Orange 2 x 12. It's frigging awesome. I can't afford it, but it has made me consider getting a 6505 or a used 5150.

The 5150iii is WAY different than the 5150 or 6505. I would consider them to be almost completely different. The distortion on the 5150iii is much better IMO than the 6506 or older 5150....plus the amp is virutally noiseless.
