  • tell me about celestion speakers

as i `m lloking for a cab, i might consider building one myself.

there are a lot of celestion models:
    GM12 green back, vintage 30, G12T 75.

what are the characteristics of them?
what would be the best for a bright, with lots of mids, metal tone?
    no scooped tone...

    thanks

I have an Avatar 2x12 with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a Celestion Classic Lead 80....IMO it sounds really nice, with good note articulation and oomph....but I'm hardly the tech expert here!

G12T 75 for all around Metal.

Vintage 30 if you need more mids

G12M Greenback if you need more cream

          G12H30 for more bass

You need to get the right speakers that match your amp's tone. Speakers, amp, pickup all work together.

          I have a DSL100 1/2 stack with G12T 75's and it works good together.

            I use X pattern cabs also (V30's & GT's). Works well.

              +1

My Marshall TSL100 sounds best with GT's (g12t-75's) and my Mesa gear sounds better with Vintage 30's (or xpatterned with GTs and V30s).

Don't waste your dough on the Chinese Celestions. These do the same job and are dirt cheap: http://warehousespeakers.com/

Not sure about wasting one's money on anything they choose to spend it on but,...... Definitely +1 on WarehouseguitarSpeakers. At $45 each it's a no brainer. At least as far as their V30's go. Gonna be hard to tell theirs from the originals without a/b'ing w/identical cabs and amps.

I've a/b'ed them and bought 4. They are on the UPS truck for delivery today!

+1 on the guitar warehouse speakers. The v30 clone is dead on.
