  • USB to MIDI

I've noticed from reading here and on the gt 8 forums that most people go with a usb->midi cable that costs around $40.

Is there a difference with the cheaper ones? Rough sound quality while recording or anything?

Would something like that work just fine?

I'd be interested if it worked with a POD 2.0 - has anyone tried one?

Yes it works with a pod 2.0. I have an Edirol usb to midi and it works fine, even on win 98. I swap between the garage which has the pod using win 98 and in the house which has xp and a V Amp. Both work fine. I think some of the cheaper brands I've read about may not be as reliable or can have software issues and be a bit buggy.

      Hope this helps

I use two, EMU 1X1, and one from Carillion. Cost me £25 each. I use one for a Boss GT-8 and another for an Emu Proteus 2000 sound module. No problems. They should all do the same being as they all comprise of the same components.
