My favorite amp is my Carvin VM100. It's very similar to both the MTS and the Legacy and was made for just 2 years after the X100B and before the MTS and Legacy were introduced. 100-watt 2-channel tube head that runs on EL34s, 6L6s or 5881s with a bias switch. Has 5 12AX7s in the preamp/phase inverter section. I have an X-Series Carvin 412 straight cab and 2 Carvin VL212 slant cabs. For effects I have an old Digitech RP-7 processor. Not the greatest but adequate.
I also have a small rack system consisting of a Peavey Rockmaster 3-channel tube preamp, Rocktron Intellifex Online effects processor and a Digitech IPS33 harmonizer into an Alesis RA100 power amp into the 2 212 Carvin cabs.
I don't have the budget for the real good stuff, but I'm pretty happy with what I have for the price.Ron is the MAN!!!!

JC your set up ain't bad either.
It also has a real nice chorus and detune mode, and a built-in tuner. Kinda cool to be able to do Electric Eye or Aces High with one guitar in a pinch!Ron is the MAN!!!!

Since I was doing the cover stuff I've stcuk with my mid 90's Rocktron Chameleon running through a Rocktron Velocity 300 into a 1960 slant cab. I hope to find someone to buy the 4x12 so I can get a Legacy 2x12.My Toys:

Currently, I am using a quiet rig and a loud rig.
Quite rig ::
Line 6 POD XT Pro into a Motu Ultralight
These are going direct into a set of M-Audio BX8A's
Since I can also use the computer for audio into the same speakers, it is great for playing to music and keeping it quiet.
Loud Rig ::
Bogner Uberschall into a UberKab
For effects, I am using a Digitech 1101 along with a Rane 5 Band Parametric EQ.
Usually, I play metal but, I pick up whatever I can.

Genz Benz El Diablo 60C 1x12 combo (has the G-Flex speaker in it...Eminence?). Does everything from sparkly cleans to ultra-scoop Pantera tone. It does have some trouble doing Rectos, but it can take 6L6 tubes as well as the original EL34s, so I may have to try them and see what happens.
I run a DD-3 through the loop in case I want some epic delay in my leadsLast edited by Spivonious; 02-15-2008, 11:25 AM.Scott

marshall valvestate 8100 head through bass 4 x 12 coupled with a bss super overdrive usually. the amp handles most things pretty well, i usuallu play lots of hair metal, and some thrahs occasionally. has a decent clean channel, good drive, lots of balls, and i use the boss super overdrive for a touch of gain and also some highs. if i'm using the clean channel and playing blues, i'll use more drive on the boss pedal, and just get all my drive from that.
wil probably get a nice fender all tube combo to satisfy my blues tho at some point. what u need really isn't it?

i play hard rock and jazz fusion. i have 2 rigs:
(main rig)
rivera S120 head with a digitech studio quad, ADA S1000, dbx compressor and a rocktron HUSH in the loop. the head is run in a wet/dry set up with the effects on the left side and the straight signal on the right. the head powers a pair of rivera C112 cabs (in stereo) loaded with EVM12L speakers and a rivera C210 (in stereo). the line out of the dry signal powers a second rivera head that is connected to a mesa recto 2x12 cab, for the left side of the stage. it is an elaborate set-up, but it sounds great!! i have setting it up on stage down to a science. the whole rig can be loaded and plugged in in about 2 minutes!!!
(secondary rig)
1963 fender tremolux head with a reissue '63 fender tube reverb unit plugged into a a mesa widebody 1x12 cab with a weber vintage alnico speaker. i mostly use this rig with my telecaster or vintage strat when i am playing jazz. occasionally i will toss my sansamp classic in front of it for more sustain (not really distortion), but usually it is just:
guitar -> tuner -> reverb -> amp
it sounds classic and great!!!!GEAR:
some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!
some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!
and finally....
i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I play a cheap-ass rig of a Randall SS half stack and a GT-6. It does well for my needs - just the Randall alone for chainsaw distortion metal, GT-6 can handle all the rock/pop/blues tones I need.
I'm not the pickiest guy when it comes to my tone. Plus, I'm poor
