I have a pod x3 and a couple tube amps. My favorite is a peters dual channel 20 watt head. It has a british type channel that goes from plexi to jcm 800 to more gain than that. The other channel is a modern high gain one.

I also have a hughes and kettnet tube 50 head. Both those amps get played through a variety of avatar speaker cabs.

EVH lll half stack, assorted Boss stomps, Soloist, Model 2 strathead and an SD re-issue.

I'd use this rig for any type of music, my sound doesn't change at all from one music genre to another (except from clean to dirty of course). I've found the drive tone that is perfect for me, so that's what I'm used to playing with and using. I doubt I'd be able to use anyone else's rig.

So, doesn't matter if the band plays Celine Dion or Korn, I'm gonna do it with my rig...

I have a few different rigs. I'll just cover the essential stuff and leave out tuners, effects and such.

Practice/"Mini" live rig: ART DST-4 preamp > Peavey Classic 60 power amp > Jackson 4x12
"Main" live rig: Pedalboard (ART Xtreme, EHX Tube EQ) > Peavey Classic 50/50 power amp > Jackson 4x12
Studio rig: ART DST-4 preamp > ART Tube Channel EQ/compressor *and* Peavey Rock Master preamp > Rocktron Multi-Valve processor > Carvin T100 power amp > Peavey 2x12 cab

I also have a Boss ME-50 and Mesa vertical 2x12 cab for when I don't have room to haul my big pedalboard or 4x12. In general, I just really like the ART preamps more than anything else I've tried, so they tend to be the foundation of my various rigs.

My main rig is an ENGL Fireball into ENGL standard cab, with a Boss GT5 hooked up in the 4-cable method just for effects.
I use it for deathmetal, both brutal technical stuff and melodic death (I play in two bands in those styles).
I chose and love this rig for its tight and clear sound, as well as versatility with the GT5... I can go from high gain rhythm to crystal clear clean and just about any sound with the push of a button.

I also own a Peavey XXL head for backup (was my main amp before the ENGL), at home I have a Marshall AVT-50 combo. Though I almost never use that one since I got my POD 2.3, going direct into my computer.

I have a poor mans amp, a line 6 flextone II and a Spyder II. I don't play in a band, so no need for a big rig. Just home studio needs at this point. Some very nice amps in this thread.

I have a few amps laying around. I'm into melodic metal/hard rock, fusion, jazz and classical influenced schitz

I've made no changes to this in probably a couple years now

I play a GT-Pro through a marshall power amp, I also have some other amps and preamps lying around.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

i play alot of thrash/death metal. i have a crate gt120hl SS matched with a crate BV 4-12 and i have a crate bv120 w/ matching cab. i use head distortion, sonic stomp and eq in the loop and a second eq infront for soloing. simple enough.

Well, since this thread has been revived... I play in an 80's hard rock cover band. I have a few different setups. All sound good and here they are:

-Randall RM100 with various MTS modules. I use pedals in a rack drawer controlled by an GCX Switcher and Ground Control Pro for this one.

-Mesa Dual Recto with Mesa 4x12 cab loaded with V30's.

-Fractal Audio Axe FX Ultra direct into PA live with a QSC powered monitor for stage. For effetcs and shear variety/versatility this kills everything else!

-Bogner Uberschall into a Bogner 4x12 cab loaded with British Greenbacks, G-Major in the loop for effects, controlled by a Behringer board. My favorite rig because, well it sounds like an Uberschall and that plain rules

-Most recent addition is a Marshall Randy Rhoads 100w stack. Way cool white rig but has only one volume setting "Extremely Loud" Been messing with running an old script logo MXR Distortion+ in front of it and yes, it slams you in the face like that classic Rhoads tone!

-Mesa Tri-Axis with Mesa 2:90 power amp and G-Major for effects. Haven't messed much with it.

-and of course I still have my ADA MP1 from the 80's with ADA Microtube 200 power amp into ADA Split Stack 2x12's. I also recently picked up another MP1 that I'm considering having modded just for the fun of it.
