it costs almost $1000, but the amount of tones I can get it amazing.

I can get awesome tones at bedroom volumes. Thick, thin, you name it. And the speaker cab has a removable back. If I remove the back, the headroom is unbelievable and it feels like I'm using a 4x12.
But that Carvin is a 100 watt tube power amp. Does it really sound good for you even at bedroom volume?

What speaker cab do you use?

I'm using the M-Audio Black Box which I've upgraded to the Reloaded firmware free from their website for free through some Sony studio monitors...great tone and very flexible...good drum machine/metronome for practice.

As far as home amp setup, I recently got a Blackheart 5 watt head. I use it with a Ear Candy 1x8" cab. Nice clean tube sound. I use it with a modded MT-2 pedal. Pretty good set up. It can also accommidate (with some tweaking) a POD hooked up to it. Overall, not bad. And the head was only $150.

yes it does. In fact, the other night, I lowered the volume less than 1 (I usually have it around 3 or 4) cause I was playing around 11 PM and didnt want to wake up the neighbors and it still sounded awesome! I was really surprised. With my previous tube amps, if I lowered the vol below 1, it would go flat and sound all shitty. But this one is truly amazing. I knew I made a right decision listening to John (jgcable).

The thing is, its not only a guitar power amp. it can also be used as a audio amplifier and looks like its designed to work great at all volumes.

I use a Epiphone Valve Junior cab with a Celestion V-30 and the back completely sealed.

Doh, I just realised I said "Boss" instead of "Roland". My bad.

I'm also seriously considering looking at the Line 6 series - I've heard some good things.
                              Smaller Marshalls? NO.

Line 6 - Flextones are GREAT, and I love my SpiderValve with a Boss SD-1 in front of it.

I have a Crate G-40C tucked under my endtable in my livingroom. It has a nice stereo Chorus and you can have it turned way down and it sounds good since it's solid state. I used it at a band practice and it sounded ok at full volume plugged into a 4x12. It would work in a pinch as a main amp.
