  • Rivera K-Tre owners chime in

    Hey guys

I'm lookin into a rivera again, I had an old TBR1SL but sold it, now I'm rockin an Uberschall and love this thing, but the effects loop really stinks in it, so I'll use it for my dry monster tone, but I'm really likin the Rivera K-Tre, I haven't tried one, I've only heard the youtube vids, which sound cool, but I don't know if it shocases the amp good enough.

Anyone here want to chime in with vids or mp3's

even pics of your rigs with the K-Tre, I will be using the g-system with it, so if anyone has one of thsoe too with the K-tre chime in!

    Thanks!

I thought the K-Tre was very cool when I finally spent some time with one a few weeks back. The heavier settings are way too over-the-top for the classic rock I do, but dialing it back a bit resulted in some tasty and hot heavy rock tones. It was alot more versatile than I would have guessed, and it´s got a huge and tight low end that works good through the entire range of tones. Out of the modern-era Knuckleheads I think I like the K-Tre the most, but it won´t replace my old non-reverb Knucklehead or my TBR1.

I have one with reverb. I've owned every Knucklehead with the exception of the KII and the KTre is the meanest of the bunch.
Clean channel is execptional, like every Rivera and the lead channel is over the top distortion.
It is voiced VERY aggresively with tons of bottom end. I play it next to my PB but the Rivera has a LOT more note definition and it is loud as all hell. The only thing about Riveras is that the EQ is so damned sensitive. I mean, you just can't plug in a play any guitar and wail. Pickups, woods and any combination thereof could throw the setup you have out the window.
I had it setup great playing my WD Skully, that combo was just freaking lethal dude. Then I plugged in a PRS CU22 and it sounded like someone threw shit at my speakers. After 15 minutes of noddling with the EQ, presence, foundation and gain controls I got it to do what I wanted.
I had it in the studio 6 months ago with a Fender Big Apple Strat and everyone was asking what that amp was and ripping my tone was. It is just a great amp.

The fact that Riveras are so sensitive to changes in EQ, and to what you throw at them guitar-wise, is one of the big things that have kept me playing mine for years. I like to have different pickups in all my guitars, and since I switched to Rivera I get the most out of having that diversity at hand. I have to tweak the amp a bit when going from one guitar to the other, of course, but the way the input section and the versatile tone controls have the ability to let the different guitars shine through in their own voice... it´s awesome. With some other amps I´ve had different guitars sounded about the same, and with a few amps some guitars just wouldn´t work no matter what.

i agree. it makes having 20 guitars mean something!!! they all can have their own tone shine through because the amp allows the guitar to sound like itself...NOT like the amp.
          GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

          and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

            Hey guys

Thanks for all the info, I had a TBR1SL before and I LOVEd the clean channle, it just didn't have wht I need in terms of the gain tone. It had alot of gain it just wasn't a metal amp.
I play vintage and new USA Dean ML's with Bill Lawrence L500XL pickups and they are mean as hell, I play mostly mahogany bodied set neck guitars. The only thing I'd be worried about is that with this kind of guitar it can get a little muddy sounding if the amp doesn't have enough treble or presence. I doubt this has the same problem

Anyhow, how is the loop of the amp? what kind of control do I have over the loop?

And if any of you guys see one for sale let me know hahaha

            Thanks guys!

You think the clean channel on the K Tre is cleaner/better than on the KR100?? I've only played the "evil," channel on a K tre and got kicked out before I got to try the clean channel!

Rivera has one of the best loops in the business, as far as I´m concerned. I´ve had all kinds of stuff stuck in there... rackgear and pedals, old and new... and it worked great with just about everything. It doesn´t suck tone, and it´s great to have control over both send and return levels.

I've wanted to try one for a while now. The clips I've heard sound ridiculously good, and the price for one of these things is pretty reasonable.
