What a good EL34 tube out there for highgain(metal) amps/playing? Been hearing good things about Mullards re-issue "Master Valves," anybody try them yet?

For metal, the JJ EL34L's are excellent. Good lowend for a EL34 and a little more sizzle than your standard EL34. I had the Svetlana Wing'd C's in my VHT 2/50/2 and swapped them out for JJ KT77's. The Wing'd C's were excellent but I preferred the KT77's due to the increased lowend.Good deals with:
Metal Medal II, Tonyl11

i personally think the JJ EL34L's are too dark sounding and really tame the midrange down too much.
this was taken from wikipedia.
New Sensor makes tubes under many different brand names, Sovtek and Electro-Harmonix being only two. They recently acquired the rights to market tubes under the names Mullard and Tung-Sol. They also acquired the rights to the name Svetlana for North America out from under a competing tube manufacturer who now go by SED or "Winged C" in that market.[3] New Sensor is currently making tubes under all those brand names.

Svetlana tubes are no longer made by Svetlana. they are made by the same company as Sovtek and Electro-Harmonics. for more information on Svetlana Tubes see this stereophile article:
so "Svetlana" is now a brand of tubes from the same factory as Sovtek to similar specifications as the real Svetlana's over at the St. Petersburg factory.
the old Svetlana's are now under the name "S.E.D." and are still made in the Svetlana St. Petersburg factory. S.E.D. stands for Svetlana Electron Distrobutors.
