Time to retube the 4010 combo...

It's a marshall 4010 50 watt single channel combo. Same as the JCM800 2204 head. No fx loop, 2X EL34s, 3 X AX12A7.

I am thinking JJ EL-34s or Shuaguang and Tung-Sol Ax127s

I like to hit the front with an MXR ZW-44 pedal (Tubecreamer/Boss SD-1 type) or ProCo Rat for an Accept/Scorps type sound.

I am leaning toward TS/JJ, but the chinese shuaguang tubes sounded good in the past....

thoughts?

Oh, and it's re-cap time too. F&T did great on my 4210. Thoughts on JJ 50uF/50Uf vs F&T50uF/50Uf?

i would not go with the JJ's for EL34's. they are just too dark sounding. if you want those sweet Marshall tones get the Svetlana's. if you want that same sound with a modern tight bass response get the S.E.D. Winged C's.

as far as caps. i'd call up John Suhr and ask him. he'll be happy to give you his oppinion on anything.
