Pedals are no problem - dragging multiple heads or cabs out to a gig is a complete non-starter - I'm too old to be doing that shit :ROTF:

I was going to run mine thru the Uberschall for effects only but it sounds so good going just Guitar> Axe Fx Ultra> Mesa 2:90 Power Amp> Cabs that I'm going to leave it alone that way and start experimenting with tweaking it. Hope you keep yours, then I have someone to ask questions about it when need be
        FYI, there is a 5.04 update: http://www.setbb.com/axefx/viewtopic...9&mforum=axefx

I've gone round and round with how to configure it. I was running it into a VHT 2502 and guitar cabs. Lately I've been running it straight into full range powered QSC PA cabs.

Do you turn of cab and/or power amp sims? What foot controller are you using?

You're not supposed to. That's what roadies are for.

Thanks for the compliment. Fortunately for me, Tim, that is not an issue. I don't gig, and my jamming buddies have enough gear that I don't have to lug anything over.

Yeah, I know. I need to update mine, its still 4.xx right now. I tried shutting off the cab and power amp sims using the global function but many of those patches sound better leaving them on even though I'm going through a power amp and cabs again. I've heard lots of good things about the QSC powered monitors and running the Axe-Fx straight through the PA for live use. I might have to consider that next.

well, i DO have other amps and cabs. i have a JCM800 2204, a boogie mark IV and a theile 1x12 at the rehearsal space, along with my normal rivera stage rig (the S120 with 2 rivera 1x12 cabs and a boogie recto 2x12). at home here, i have a rivera M100 combo, a rivera M100 head and rivera 2x10 cab, and a '63 fender tremolux with a 1x12 cab.

so, i DO get what you mean!! hahahaha. depending on my mood i will switch junk around. but live, it is ALWAYS that one rig. it does EVERYTHING i need onstage. i can run it in stereo wet/dry - which is cool because i am the only guitarist. i can get a GORGEOUS clean sound and a pummeling distorted sound. it just does what i need!!
                GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

                and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I just went from 3.18 to 5.02 about a week and a half ago. BIG difference. I need to go do 5.04.

I'm not convinced about the PA cabs yet - it sounds great and even feels right but there is still something about moving air through a guitar cab that is somehow different - I'm sure it's all in my head.

You need to ditch the presets. I find that they are not reflective of what you can really get out of the Axe-FX once you spin the knobs yourself a bit. Having said that I can just change the amp model for patch #000 Studio Lead and get stuck playing for an hour.

indeed. what tubes (type/brand) usually come stock in it? i think this one has 6L6's in it - i'm not sure if they are original or not. I've got a matched sextet of tung sol 5881's I want to try. My CAA OD50 has the 5881's and the clean channel is simply stunning - John Suhr had mentioned those tubes in particular making a big difference with the clean tones.

matt, one more question, what speaker/cab are you running with your diezel?

I've been reading about the QSC HPR122i over on the Axe-Fx forum and I might have to go that way myself. Dunno just yet. I also need to get something to do the updates, from the forum again perhaps the M-Audio Midisport 2x2? What did you use to update yours Tim? This stuff is really new to me even though I've used rack stuff since the 80's. The Axe-Fx is just way more advanced than me! Only thing I used Midi for in the past is patch changes from a foot controller
