  • Need some help with the 4 cable method on the GT-8

I know...weve been thru this! Just got the replacement KT-88's back
    from VHT...(that only took 9 weeks...but in their defense it's been a
rash of sub par tubes coming out of Russia for the last 4 months. Finally
Steve said that this batch was good. So, im back in Stereo VHT land..
(2/90/2 stereo rack power amp) But here is my problem..(again!)
The only inputs on the back of the VHT are..."A" Input 1/4"
    And below it..."B" "Mono" 1/4"
    That's it! I only have
    2 A" speaker outs...and 2 "B" spearker outs, with selectable impedance
    settings.
So, you guys familiar with the "GT-8"...4 cable method... what the heck do i do here? Should i leave my "L/Mono output.. go into' the VHT
"Mono" input...then leave the VHT "Input on the A" side? returning back
to the "Right "Output" of the GT? Or should this one leaving the VHT
A input side, go to the "Return" of the effects loop in the GT? Then leave
the "Effects" "Send" of the GT and go right over 8" to the Right "Output
of the GT-8? Thereby creating an effects "Loop" of the "Right" side output of the GT but travelling thru the "Input side of the back of the VHT
amp? (Hello"??? Given my past crazy's on this subject, i'll bet no
one has even read past my first sentence? :ROTF:

If it is only a power amp you can't do the 4cable method, because the 4cable method is used to put the PREAMP of an amplifier in the loop of the GT8 and then go into the power amp.

Please, for all that is holy, DO NOT connect a speaker out to your GT8. That would be quite a waste of dollars, and probably wouldn't smell all to nice, either.

*** No im not confusing the "Speaker outs"... but i guess im going
to have to "Loop" thru my ADA MP-1 just to make that connection with
the ADA's "Effects loop" send and recieve? Shoot! Trouble is the ADA
is 16 bit old school converters... not the 44.4 sample rate of today's
      gear.

I simplified my problem... Left channel into the VHT "A" amp only.. L/Mono
from the output of the GT... and then the "Right" channel from the EVH
5150 III into my 2 "Crate 2/12 cabs...from the "Right" Output of the
GT... split systems...true stereo... bad ass!~ Im just giving the "B"
        side VHT amp a rest...

If you're only going to use one side of the amp, you may want to alternate side A and B every week so the tubes have approximately the same usage time being pushed. If you push one side for 6 months while the other remains in standby, then use it in stereo, the two sides might sound different. If you're running at bedroom volume it probably wouldn't matter though...

Thanks! Thats a good idea.. i also have an 8 ohm load on
B also, just in case i come off of standby wrong, and turn on "B".
But will do.. i''ll change em over weekly. (and it is just bedroom volume.. although if you ask my neighbors... it's really loud bedroom volume!
