Peavey Butcher 120w Head

Anyone played or own this head? I just learned about this and they sound pretty badass, apparently the pre-5150 head. I currently have a '95 EVH block letter 5150 head so is the Butcher going to be a better version of my 5150? I'm always looking for more gain and mid crunch!

Nope, it won't sound better than a 5150 if that is the sound you are looking for.
The Butcher is not the pre-5150 head. I believe that would be the Supreme.
It won't have nearly as much gain and it has a certain fuzz to the distortion. Kind of old school. Certainly not 5150 league.

Yeah, nothing like a 5150. More like a basic Marshall master vol. amp but with 6L6's. There's a little more gain built into the Peavey VTM series heads but it still isn't 5150 gain.
